Clara's comparing culture

Every country has their history and culture. Culture is the systems of signs, meanings, and world views of particular groups of human beings. So, understanding culture is important to understanding about their human beings. Each country has a different culture. From now on we will talk about various cultures especially about American compare to Korean culture.

In American culture, individualism is important. For example, when someone crush you in the street they always say, “I’m sorry.” Likewise you don’t enter the space that American think is my space. But in Korea community is more important than individual. They think that people is member of community. Therefore, they are doing like under passage.

- when they introduce themselves to other people, tell to people to their school, age, family, religion than their individual.

- They live with their parents and got support from their parents until they get a job or get married even they graduate school. And they have a special feeling to thier family.

- When you see a person in the Korea streets, you can recognize that people have a same face – they do not express their feeling on their face. So foreigner could misunderstand that they are angry. In America, people smile to the other even they don’t know each other. But in Korea, they rarely express their feelings. Because they think that express one’s private feeling is amatuar things.

In Korea culture, they think history is valuable. This is opposite to American culture that future is more important than history. Koreans think that history is ground and explain their human beings. So knowing their own history is important and they have pride about history.

But they have a commonness American culture with Korean culture. First commonness is kindness. In America they are kind to other people and kindness is also important in Korea. So they are kind to other people. And next commonness is concept of equality. Equality is important in America and it is also important in Korea. This equality dosen’t means that same character but they have a same opportunity. They have aspiration about success and they are usually hard workers. So, competition is common when they want to achive something.

For a while, we discuss about different culture. Each country has their own culture that has difference and commonness with other culture. Knowing each culture is a starting point of understanding each human beings.
